Boukman Botanical Rhum — Bitters & Bottles
Boukman Botanical Rhum is derived from two of Haiti’s best rhum terroirs, the rich canefields of Croix des Bouquets in the south and the northern cane fields around Cap Haïtien, scene of Dutty Boukman’s rebellion. Only the best rhum agricole is used, distilled from the fresh juice of sugar cane, and infused with botani
Maison Arhumatic reinvents rum punches by selecting the best fruits, freshly cut herbs, spices from afar and agricultural rum from Guadeloupe. It's true, Rhum arrangé (which more or less means 'rum with stuff in it') is technically a flavored rum.  But it's miles away better than cloyingly sweet and flavored rums of our younger years.  The fruits and herbs are also beautifully displayed in the bottle.  The combination of fruits and spices with a touch of cane syrup makes an ideal digestive.
El Amparo is a pot still rum produced in the city of Jipijapa, Ecuador. While Aguardiente is produced in many South American countries, Ecuador has a long history of distillation that remains locally enjoyed, undiscovered until recently by the global market. This bottling to celebrate 60 years of experience over three generations of the Zorilla family and share their El Amparo with the world.

El Amparo is made from a variety of sugar cane that is commonly called Cubana Negra. The cane is harvested by hand and the fresh juice is fermented naturally with the ambient yeast of the distillery. Distilled on a small alembic pot still, El Amparo is enjoyed locally - and bottled - unaged at still strength of ~60% abv.

The La Favorite distillery, built in 1842, originally employed a water wheel to power the cane-crushing mills, the first step in sugar production. At that time, the estate included two sugar refineries and a small rum distillery with five fermentation vats, a small boiler and copper pot still. Bankruptcy in 1875, followed by the hurricane of 1891 closed the estate until 1909 when Henri Dormoy purchased the property. Dormoy built a railway through the plantation to transport fresh cane from the surrounding countryside to the distillery where he installed a new distillation column and steam engine.

Today La Favorite is one of the last two family-owned distilleries on the island (along with Neisson) and produces less than 500,000 liters of AOC rhum agricole per year. La Favorite contracts with farmers to buy sugar cane grown in the central region of Martinique near the distillery. All of the La Favorite rhums exported to the US are distilled, aged and bottled at the distillery.

The fresh sugar cane aroma is high-lighted with a white oak tone which carries through the citrus and fruit body to the rich tannins in the finish. Distilled as coeur de canne, La Favorite Rhum Agricole Ambré gains it's golden tint while aging one to two years in used American bourbon barrels.

Alambique Serrano is a unique brand of small batch and single barrel rums produced in Oaxaca's cloud forest from fresh local sugar cane juice. Created by the Krassel family - third generation distillers - the rums are all single origin, reflecting the unique terroir of the steep hillsides of Santa Maria Tlalixtac. Every rum the Krassels produce is hand harvested, distilled in handmade stills, and then aged in both their dry and humid bodegas. They practice traditional organic agriculture, leading to healthy and robust cane plants while preserving the integrity of their farmland.

Blend #2 combines two different batches of rum distilled by Rommel Krassel in his 300-liter copper alembic still: A single cask rested in highly toasted new French oak is blended with a hint of unaged pot still rum by the same maker. The two batches combine to create an aromatically fascinating blend that recalls green apple, Bananas Foster and hogo-funk. Notes of cinnamon, pan dulce, leather, and piloncillo soften a flash of wild and green herbal notes with a layered complexity on the palate. The finish brings everything together, for an extended slightly fruity and nuanced experience.

The Rhum J.M Epices Creoles is the last in a series of three cocktail focused special releases for the distillery, the Atelier des Rhums series, each exploring different flavor profiles achieved through various cask treatments and types. While the Jardin Fruité presents the rich and fruity side and the Fumée Volcanique uses heavy barrel char to lend a big hit of smoke, Épices Créoles impresses with warm and spicy notes.

Notes of vanilla bean, honey, gingerbread, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, chili, and nutmeg. Bottled at 46% abv.
