lt;p>           Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome . You are looking at a somewhat rare RCA 74B "Junior Velocity" ribbon microphone first manufactured in the early 1940's I believe and manufactured up until the mid to late 1950's. This was a quality, affordable studio mic that has a classic ribbon look and is quite large in size. It comes with the rare radio flag from a radio station called PFC. I really have no idea where that was located? if you do by chance I'd love to know anything about it or their history? It should be noted that I have had this mic in my personal collection the past 7 years and it's only used as a display mic. It's 100% complete but it's non-working and will need a professional rebuild. The this ribbon element is missing so it most likely broke years ago and was never replaced. This could actually be a very easy fix if the ribbon is the only issue which I would suspect. This mic is really going to pop anywhere it may be displayed or used. Would be excellent for a T.V series or movie. I would also suggest having this rebuilt at ENAK based out of New Jersey as their rates are very reasonable and their work is top notch. I have used them for several ribbon rebuilds. A full rebuild on this mic should be around the $400 mark. Well worth the investment however. You'll notice right away that this mic has an original Umber brown painted finish. These mics either came in chrome or gloss black paint. There are just scratches, lite scuff marks and a couple tiny paint chips but this 74B is far nicer than most I come across. No dents or fractures and the front and rear grill are free of dents or corrosion. The silk inner screen is free of any major holes and zero rips. The RCA meatball logo shows just lite wear. The mic comes with the chrome lower joint swivel that works perfectly and has the AD-1 stand adapter so that you may mate this to any stand of choice though a period Bud Radio stand is provided already. Swivel has lots of tension and works perfectly allowing you to tilt the mic in a 360 degree direction.  The mic has a short original 7 inch original cable. The cable is still soft and is very pliable with no damage. The period Cannon female XLR connector shows very lite wear.  Best part is the old 74B flag that comes with this mic which is why I bought and displayed this for so many years. Really adds character to the mic. It's 100% original and in excellent shape. Made of aluminum with the black painted background. It's well secured to the mic via screws and really pops. The flag alone is a $500.00 accessory and highly sought after. Mic is an easy 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department. Flag is just as nice.          MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE  It's a highly collectible and rarer 1940's era Bud Radio Products No 589 model cast iron microphone desk stand with a beautiful stock painted finish and the deco inspired 4 tier "waterfall" design. This heavier stand is ideal for all small, medium and larger mics making a very stable platform. This hard to come by desk stand was quite popular in it's day. The rarity and deco influence makes this very desirable today as well. Microphones of the 1930's and 40's were extremely expensive and the last thing you wanted was for that mic to tip over and break. The No 589 model made sure that didn't happen. The microphone stand is in very nice overall condition and even comes with it's original 2 inch riser. The riser itself is painted black and made of brass which is a true indication of it's early age along with the matching paint. The stand weighs just over 3 pounds and the base is appx 6 inches wide. The stand is appx 8 inches tall. With the mic on top it's appx 14 inches tall. As you can see in the detailed pictures the stand is free of any scratches or discoloration but there are very small paint chips right where the riser screws into the top of the base. There is no corrosion on the base however and the riser has just a few scratches on it. There is a small hole that was drilled into one of the legs to allow a cable to come through it. Cosmetically it's a very conservative 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.             As with all my vintage microphones I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
