In 2014, Nike declared March 26th, Air Max Day and creating the Nike Air Max 1 Air Max Day/3.26 colorway of the iconic running shoe. Inspired by the Pompidou Center in Paris, known for its inside-out design, Tinker Hatifeld decided to make Air cushioning visible on the Air Max in 1987. While the marketing side of Nike was against visible Air cushioning, Tinker pushed forward and Nike created what is now one of the most important sneaker technologies ever made.
